PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

This course is a prerequisite for the Rescue Diver, Dive Master and Master Diver courses.

Prerequisites

PADI Open Water Diver or to have an equivalent rating.

Minimum age

15, or 12 for junior advanced open water.

Class Description

Training is divided into Classroom lectures and corresponding dives in the areas of:

  • Natural and Compass Navigation
  • Wreck Diving
  • Deep Diving
  • Search & Recovery
  • Diver Propulsion Vehicle (Scooter)
  • Night (Tide permitting)

PADI Search and Recovery Course

The PADI Search and Recovery course is designed to acquaint the diver with the techniques and applications of search and recovery methods.

PADI Rescue Diver Course

The PADI Rescue Diver course is designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for individuals to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, manage diving accident situations, render proper first aid and qualify for PADI Divemaster training.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite certification for enrollment is PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or has an equivalent rating. Divers must also complete a PADI Emergency First Response Course or equivalent First Aid and CPR Course prior to course completion.

Dive Master Course

The Dive Master course is conducted on an individual basis and denotes an individual who has a high level of personal diving skill, has instructor-level knowledge of diving theory, has had significant training in assisting instructors during training activities and is able to assume a role of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his/her charge.

Prerequistes

Prerequisite certifications are Open Water, Advanced, Rescue Diver, Divemaster Prep and 40 logged dives.

Minimum age

Minimum age is 18.

PADI Night Diver Course

The PADI Night Diver course is designed to prepare the diver to dive safely at night.

Prerequisites

PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent rating.

  • Planning and preparation for night diving
  • Procedures and techniques for night diving
  • Problems and hazards
  • Dive lights

Training includes 3 shore dives. (All 3 may all be done in a single night)
Note: The Night Dive from Advanced Open Water counts towards the 3 total dives needed for certification

Under Water Photography Course

This course covers basic underwater digital photography with special emphasis on practical photographic techniques, covering such subjects as; available light, flash photography, camera handling, composition, photographic principles and care and maintenance of equipment.

Prerequisite certification for enrollment is PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent rating.

Class Description

The PADI Digital Underwater Photography course covers the essentials of making images and is a hands-on clinic with digital systems at the heart of this course designed for both the beginner and the intermediate photographer.

  • Flash Photography
  • Camera Handling
  • Composition
  • Photographic Principles
  • Care and Maintenance of Equipment

4 Open Water Dives that include:

  • 2 Shore Dives at Radio Island

Boat Diving Course

This course is designed to acquaint divers with the aspects of boat diving including terminology, layout, storage areas, off-limit areas, location of emergency equipment, boarding/debarking techniques, water entry and exit techniques and general in-water dive procedures.

PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent rating.

Dry Suit Diving

This course is designed to provide the student an understanding about diving in dry suits and to help the student to develop the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary for dry suit diving.

Emergency First Responder Course

The PADI EFR course is designed to provide the student with the same emergency-aid techniques used by paramedics and doctors, but at a layman’s level. The course covers CPR, first aid, and primary and secondary evaluations.

Prerequisites

This course is open to all divers and non-divers.

Equipment Specialist Course

The PADI Equipment Specialist course is designed to be an introduction to new types of equipment and to familiarize divers with the operation and maintenance of equipment.

NOTE: This is not an equipment repair certification course.

Prerequisite certification is PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating.

Fish Identification Course

The PADI AWARE Fish Identification course is designed to give the diver adequate knowledge to correctly identify North Carolina tropical reef fish, temperate water fish, as well as some of the more frequently encountered Caribbean reef fish.

Lionfish Population Control Course

The PADI Lionfish Population Control course is designed to educate divers about Lionfish and their invasion of the coast of the United States and in the Caribbean. This program will introduce the participants to the habitat of the Lionfish and the ways to live capture, shoot, and document their populations off of the coast of North Carolina.

Manatee Awareness Course

The PADI Manatee Awareness is an entry-level course designed to educate the general diving public about the manatee. The dive for this course is conducted on the Florida Springs Trip.

The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course will enhance the diver’s buoyancy control ability through knowledge development and practical skills. The PADI Underwater Naturalist course is designed to be an introduction to the underwater aquatic environment and to help the student diver develop safe and responsible interaction with aquatic life.

This course is designed to give the diver the necessary skills and knowledge for establishing and maintaining Salt Water aquariums.

(This is not a PADI Specialty course.)

Narcosis Management Course

This course is offered through PSAI. This course will have you perform underwater skills that relate to the real world of diving: Keeping up with Depth, Air, Time, and Awareness (DATA).

Prerequisites

Prerequisite certification is Advanced Open Water. Participants are required to have DAN Master Insurance or higher.

Miniumum Age

Minimum age for enrollment is 15 for Level 1 and 2.
Minimum age for enrollment is 18 for Level 3.

Class Description

Training consists of classroom sessions, a pool session, and four open water dives.

You must become comfortable and competent with the mental and motor skills at each training depth before training down to the next level.

The training in this course covers:

  • Equipment Selection and Configuration
  • Dive Planning and Gas Management
  • Buddy Awareness
  • Dive Execution
  • Preparing for and responding to foreseeable technical diving emergencies

This course is taught on air.

The levels that are taught are:
Level 1 (100 Feet)
Level 2 (130 Feet)
Level 3 (150 Feet).
